Today is the day!  Come to the Walker Art Center from 1-3pm to dance.  Also check out my movie Call and Answer which will be playing inside all day and pose with a stranger for a photograph and receive a handmade book!  Be there and be square!

Cookies, Corona and Conversation around A Manual on How to Activate Space-Walker Art Center FlatPak House June 21st 6pm

6-8:30 PM

Artist Amanda Lovelee,  creator of  the Call and Answer Project (a documentary about square dancing, hand holding and connecting and Colin Harris, coordinator of Open Streets/.urban planner/fiddle player, will discuss their Manual on How to Activate Space.  This project explores how space is turned into place, how we can use existing urban resources and creating the conditions for more spontaneous exchange between strangers.   We’ll also make manuals and we’re hopeful that Colin will play the fiddle. Check in out and come join in. It will be much more then a talk with a supply list of 4 typewriters, 4 12 packs of beer, over 40 homemade cookies, not sure how many handmade books and 1 fiddle!

5 weeks till Northern Sparks, 60 days till I leave for China, 4 months till the Walker

Time is moving fast and the Call and Answer Project is growing just as fast! Had a pivotal gathering of the master minds in the Square Dance and Book making communities at my house last Thursday.  An amazing night of stimulating conversation, hard core planing and even the bread rose for the occasion!  I am now spending this rainy Saturday planing the next master mind dinner, thinking about a flat park for an outdoor square dance, and designing save the date cards!
